Top 8 Holiday Events in Austin 2018

The Holidays are here and it’s time to celebrate! Whether you’re into looking at lights, cuddling up with some spiked hot cocoa, or shopping for unique gifts, I’ve got you fam. As an early Christmas gift to you, is a list that I put together of the Top 8 Holiday Events happening in Austin this year:

Mozart’s Light Show

Dates: Now through Jan. 2, Closed on Christmas Day
When: 6:00PM – 12:00AM
Cost: FREE

From now through Jan. 2, enjoy one of the top FREE events in Austin! At Mozart’s Coffee House & Roasters, they decorate their outdoor patio with over 1 million LED lights synchronized to some classic Christmas tunes. Bring your friends, order some hot chocolate, grab a seat and enjoy! This is by far my FAVORITE holiday event in Austin because 1. it’s free, 2. I love the treats at Mozart’s, and 3. who doesn’t love singing along to holiday songs?! The light show goes on every hour, so be sure to get there early if you want to grab a seat

A Trail of Lights at Zilker Park

Dates: December 10-23, 2018
When: 7:00PM – 10:00PM nightly
Cost: $3 admission; pay to park

The Austin Trail of Lights is one of Austin’s largest holiday traditions. Did you know that they’ve been around since 1964? Zilker Park is decorated with over 65 different displays, 2 million lights and is packed with holiday activities that everyone of every age can enjoy. It’s one of my favorites and I try not to miss out on it every year. Pro-tip: they do FREE nights every year from December 10-13 and 17-19, but get there early if you want to beat the crowds getting in

Blue Genie Art Bazaar

Dates: Now through December 24, 2018
When: 10:00AM – 10:00PM daily, 1o:00AM – 6:00PM Christmas Eve
Cost: FREE (gifts not included)

If you’re looking for unique holiday gifts, the Blue Genie Art Bazaar is the place for you. From hand-poured candles, handcrafted jewelry, unique prints and more, there are so many goods and gifts to choose from for everyone on your holiday shopping list. Did I mention that gifts support local artists? Gotta love #supportlocal. I love going here for my White Elephant gifts

Gibson Wonderland

Dates: Now through December 31, 2018
When: 4:00PM – 2:00AM Daily
Cost: FREE (drinks not included)

Gibson Street Bar off South Lamar is decking the halls all throughout December to bring 21+ patrons its FIRST ever Gibson Wonderland! The bar is going over the top with its Christmas decor, including an #instaworthy sled. Be sure to pop in and enjoy some libations off of their festive holiday menu

Ice Skating on the Plaza at Whole Foods

Dates: Now through January 10, 2019*
When: 10:00AM – 9:00PM
Cost: $10, includes skate rental

The flagship Whole Foods store transforms into an ice skating rink for a limited time every year. This is a great idea for families and for dates. *Make sure to check online when the ice rink is closed for private events and holiday hours

Winter Wonderland at COTA

Dates: Now through December 30, 2018
When: 6:00PM – 11:00PM Friday & Saturday; 6:00PM – 10:PM Sunday – Thursday
Cost: $16 + fees, parking not included

For the second year, Austin’s Circuit of The Americas becomes an immersive Winter Wonderland experience! This event is perfect for guests of all ages to enjoy a Chinese Lantern Festival, the largest outdoor ice skating rink in Texas, and an array of other festive activities (they have a petting zoo!). You can purchase tickets online or at the Circuit, and they have complimentary parking with a shuttle to the entrance

Santa’s Ranch

Dates: Now through December 30, 2018
When: 6:00PM – 10:00PM Sunday – Thursday; 6:00PM – 11:00PM Friday & Saturday
Cost: $28 + tax per vehicle

You have to travel outside of Austin for this one, but Santa’s Ranch out in New Braunfels has an AMAZING Christmas display! At over a mile long, fill up your car with some of your pals to enjoy all the lights while sipping on some hot cocoa and snacking on kettle corn

Miracle on 5th Street

Dates: Now through December 29, 2018
When: 4:00PM – 2:OOAM Daily
Cost: FREE (drinks not included)

The Eleanor is back for the second year as a Miracle on 5th Street, a holiday pop-up bar experience. Come on in to enjoy festive cocktails inspired by classic holiday drinks and dishes. The entire place transforms into Christmas nostalgia so feel free to wear your ugly Christmas sweater with your drinking buddies. Check their calendar for exact dates for when they’re open
